  • A Preview of Photoshop Elements 7
Adobe's laying on the Web subscription message thick with their latest versions of Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements. For example, take a look at the Welcome screen, which is your first encounter with the applications. The first thing you see is a large, rotating slide show telling of the many benefits of the free and $49.99 Plus memberships for Photoshop.com (more project templates, remote backup, and 20GB-plus of storage space). It's couldn't be any more annoying than if it set itself as your desktop. • Which is Right for you Photoshop CS4 or Photoshop CS64?
Adobe's new Photoshop CS4 is basically a Photoshop 64-bit version of photo-editing software; unfortunately at this time it is only available for Windows platforms and not for the Mac OS X. Please understand that Adobe is not attempting to play favorites, instead it's trying to respect the changes Apple made in 2007 to their programming. Since the inception of Windows XP has been supporting 64-bit version of software, but it has been moving quiet slowly as most software and hardware support 32-bit.

  • Photoshop is the key to editing your photos
It is this photography 'purest' to whom I appeal (this time) - the ones that still like using film every now and then. Most photographers have Digital SLRs (DSLR - "et moi aussi"). I know you can create this effect with Photoshop, after the fact; but having creative control over this special effect makes it exciting because you execute this photo miracle at the precise moment you push the shutter button. Ghosting. This is what this special effect is called; accomplished by using your SLR's multiple exposure feature, but with a simple twist to ensure proper film exposure. The procedure detailed in this article is different from the instructions in your SLR manual.
  • Photoshop is full of hidden secrets: Discover them here
The Lasso tool. This tool allows you to highlight an image that you have made in an image or an image you have opened in Adobe Photoshop. This marquee tool likes to have smooth hard edges to follow. If you a photograph that doesn't have a easy to follow edge around objects you will find it hard to use this tool. You have probably seen this when people cut their heads out of a picture and paste it onto somebody else's body. It is a very funny feature and this is the tool that does it! The lasso tool has three different variations. The second version is the Polygonal Lasso tool. This tool can make different shapes and curves when tracing around or cutting out a piece of an image. The third variation is the Magnetic Lasso tool that only works on images that have defined edges. The tool will clamp onto an edge and give it anchor points to shape the corners. This is good when you don't have that steady hand you used to have back in high school. I use this myself because I am not the man I used to be!
  • Editing Images - Does your software live up to all its promises?
Capturing the perfect image is far from an easy task. There are many factors which come into play in determining how impeccable your image is from selecting the perfect backdrop, to the color tones as well as the level of exposure. It is only when the perfect symphony of all these elements is achieved that the image is at its most spectacular. But very often, we find that even a small tweak can cause dramatic changes, thus detracting from the inherent beauty of the image. And to correct these, it is not always a feasible solution to start from scratch and re-shoot the image, all over again. It is here that skillful editing comes to the rescue, enabling you to not only correct your image of its imperfections, but also to enhance your picture quality and tone which your digital camera, by itself, may not allow. But the quality of editing is also largely dependant on how effective your editing software is and also how suited it is to your needs.

You've tried every possible photographic trick in the book to capture the perfect picture the light, the focus and even the time of the day. But somehow, with your final digital photograph right before your eyes, you aren't completely satisfied with the final product. Maybe it's a picture of the ice-capped peaks, but it simply isn't looking as cold as you want it to or perhaps your photograph is simply looking too cluttered for your liking Fortunately for you, there have been numerous digital photographers who've been down that road and have known just how you feel. And as a result, the art called digital photography editing was created. Today, there is barely a digital photograph you will find around you which hasn't been digitally retouched or even re-mastered. And here the best part, with a few quick steps, it is possible for you to adopt this process for yourself, to create immaculate pictures of your very own.

  • Editing Digital Photography: Software living up to its promises?
Photography can be a tricky art selecting the perfect light conditions, adjusting the focus, zoom and even the time of the day you choose to click your photograph... every one of these factors adds up to create that perfect image, which you've planned so long and worked so hard to capture. But sometimes, despite your best efforts, your photograph doesn't quite end up the way you envisioned it. No matter how minor the glitch, it still detracts from the flawless image you're looking for. And fleeting moments don't last forever, nor are the changes of them occurring on a regular basis very likely. Here's where editing your digital image can salvage that lost pride in your skills, while also allowing you to add effects, you would have found exceedingly difficult, if not impossible to achieve with just your camera. But before you rush ahead and grab the first editing software you can get your hands on, stop a while and consider if your editing software does live up to your exacting standards.

However, newer LCD displays and such are fixed at a certain resolution; making the resolution lower on these kinds of screens will greatly decrease sharpness, as an interpolation process is used to "fix" the non-native resolution input into the displays native resolution output. The best thing about digital cameras is that it's easy to take thousands of pictures. That's also the worst thing about digital cameras. After you've owned your camera for a few months, you won't be able to find that great picture you took a couple of months ago if your pictures aren't well organized or named logically. Folders are the best way to organize groups of pictures, and the My Pictures folder is a great place to start. In your My Pictures folder, create a sub folder for each year: 2004, 2005, 2006, and so on. This might seem silly the first year you own your camera, but after five years, you'll be glad you did this because you can go back to your 2005 folder and easily find a picture from a vacation you took that year. Arranging pictures by year is also helpful if you're scanning older photos stored in shoe boxes or albums that you took before owning a digital camera. This is also a good way to start organizing the pictures that you currently have on your computer.
  • Want to know more about digital photography?
Adobe's Photoshop software is a very powerful image editing program that is by far the market leader for editing image files. I use Photoshop extensively when creating, and editing images for the web sites that I design. Almost all professional photographers and printers also use Photoshop to create all of the wonderful images that appear in magazines, billboards, and even on television. I am not the best artist in the world, but with Photoshop I have enough power to create brilliant images with tools that are built-in to the software. The coolest thing about Photoshop is that even as powerful as it is out of the box, there are many different plug-ins to make Photoshop even more powerful. The Photoshop plug-ins can be grouped into a few major categories which include 3D, color management, digital asset management, photographic, retouching, and special effects.
  • Check out these cool ways to edit your digital photos
When people take digital images and put them on their computers, the pictures are generally not perfect. This is where enhancements come in, they will make it so your picture looks almost professional. One enhancement that is used often is the sharpness enhancement. The sharpness enhancement is extremely helpful. Basically it improves the quality on a fuzzy picture. Almost every editor has the sharpness too, sadly most of them aren't the best. The best ones use algorithms internally to help with the enhancement of the photo. This tool is extremely useful for blurry pictures or one with fuzzy lines and borders.
  • Perception is Key to Digitial Photography
A primary knowledge of what the image is about forms the basic editing sense. Some thing like coffee should be brown, hot coffee should have vapor dancing on it. • Tired of being confused by photoshop? No more!
Digital photography has a lot of advantages over film photography in many areas, but one of the most useful is the final output of the image itself. With film cameras you had to rely on the processing lab to make any general adjustments needed to your photos to make them appear their best, but with digital photos you as the photographer have all the tools you need to enhance and edit your own photos right at home. Of course, how much editing you do to your photos before printing is entirely up to you and there are all kinds of preferences on photo editing from those that do almost no editing at all, to those who like to make major adjustments to almost every photo that they take. And there is plenty of middle ground in between those two extremes as well.
  • Photoshop Special Effects
Photographs can be enhanced in many ways with Photoshop. Many times the areas of the photo that are touched up can be differentiated from their surrounding areas. You have the tools to create a nice, soft fade from the effect and effect-free areas through masking and there are many ways to achieve this. Before you add an effect to any area of the photo it is useful to add this masking to the selected areas you want to adjust. One method most commonly used is the 'quick mask mode'. It is quick and easy to use and normally produces acceptable results.
