How To Overcome Chronic Fatigue or Adrenal Syndrome

By: Michael Sellar

Adrenal Syndrome is a health concern that means your body is less able to cope with stress. According to Hans Selye, when the body is met by something that stresses it, it undergoes three stages of adaption to it. The first is the alarm phase. The second it the resistance phase and the third is the exhaustion phase.

The Adrenal Gland Is Where It's All At

When the body is met with a stressor, its reactive mechanism to this stress lies in the adrenal glands. The alarm is raised and there is an increase in hormonal activity. If the exposure is repeated again and again, the glands adapt to this continuous stress by increasing in function and size. This cannot continue indefinitely however. The glands become exhausted and adaption cannot be maintained.

Patients usually present themselves in stage 1 or more commonly stage 3. The relationship between the stress and the alarm reaction may be obvious but the symptoms of the stage 3 patient often appear to have no clear cause.

For instance, the doctor may be presented with a patient who appears to have various allergies. They may have been in the second, resistance phase for a number of years. By the time they slip into stage three, no reasons can be found for why the patient is ill.

Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue

The symptoms of adrenal syndrome are many and varied, reflecting the widespread functions of the adrenal glands. These include fatigue, exhaustion, chemical and environmental sensitivities, allergies, mental aberrations, poor circulation, digestive problems and much else besides.

Treatment of Chronic Fatigue

Treatment of this condition should work on several fronts. First of all, reduction of stress and secondly, support for the adrenals themselves. The latter must involve cutting back on refined carbs and sugar and gradual withdrawal of caffeine, alcohol and tobacco that act as stimulants.

Nutritional Support

In terms of nutritional support the most important is vitamin C complex and B complex as well as raw spleen and adrenal supplements containing RNA and DNA factors necessary to promote full recovery.

Comprehensive coverage of this difficult to treat condition can be found in Chronic Fatigue Unmasked by Dr G Poesnecker.
